Dr. Hsieh is passionate to develop precision diagnostics tools to improve human’s health in the past 20 years. He is currently the founder of Genpedia. Genpedia’s mission is to develop an integrated robotic system with assay for sample preparation of ctDNA liquid biopsy. Dr. Hsieh has extensive knowledge and multidisciplinary practical experience in developing biomedical devices, such as endoscopic OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) based GI track tumor diagnosis (Beckman Laser Institute), digital droplet PCR (polymerase chain reaction), electrochemistry-based DNA sample-to-answer biochip (GenMark), EWOD (electrowetting-on-dielectric) -based hemostasis analyzer, and robotic system for DNA library preparation of NGS. Before founding Genpedia, Dr. Hsieh was a project leader in engineering department of Illumina. When he worked with the process and equipment engineering team in Illumina, he was responsible to drive operational improvements in Genomic Sequencing Services Dept. His team improved scalability by streamlining workflows, implementing automation, improving yields, and equipment utilization. Dr. Hsieh has also worked in Global R&D Dept. of Invitrogen and Life Technologies to develop automatic magnetic beads-based DNA library preparation system for NGS. He has also worked as a salesman and customer engineer in marketing department of electronics and semiconductor companies, and a R&D Engineer in national lab of Taiwan. Dr. Hsieh received his doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering from UC Irvine, master’s degree from Chemical Engineering and Material Science Dept. of USC in 1998. |
